IGO has announced former Rio Tinto aluminium chief executive Ivan Vella has officially joined its ranks as managing director.
Late last month, IGO revealed Vella would be joining IGO amid speculation around his termination from Rio Tinto in June.
However IGO confirmed Vella’s incoming role remained unchanged.
“I’m delighted to have joined IGO and incredibly excited about the impact we can have as we pursue our purpose of becoming a key player in the global transition towards green energy,” Vella said.
“I’m honoured to follow in the footsteps of Peter Bradford and more recently, Matt Dusci, who have both done an outstanding job of stewarding IGO through the company’s recent transformation.
“I also want to thank the entire team for their warm IGO welcome. The vibrant and values-based culture that drew me to this great company is very evident as I meet more and more of the team.”
IGO welcomed Vella’s “exceptional skills” and thanked Dusci for his leadership over the past 14 months.
“On behalf of everyone at IGO, I am delighted to welcome Ivan to IGO,” IGO chair Michael Nossal said.
“Ivan is a highly credentialed industry executive with an impressive background and importantly, a shared passion for our industry’s role in the clean energy transition.
“We are all excited to be working with Ivan as we chart the course for IGO’s success into the future.”
