The first gold bars have been produced from ore processing undertaken at Brightstar Resources’ Menzies gold project in Western Australia.
The Menzies gold project is located along the western margin of the Menzies greenstone belt, about 130km north of Kalgoorlie.
Brightstar has a 50:50 profit sharing joint venture (JV) with BML Ventures to explore the Selkirk deposit at the Menzies project. This sees BML responsible for all capital costs, mining and haulage.
The JV has a toll treating agreement with Genesis Minerals to process ore from Selkirk at the Gwalia plant, which Genesis inherited when it acquired St Barbara’s Leonora assets last year.
“We are thrilled to announce Brightstar’s inaugural gold pour from the Menzies gold project, with 38.7kg of gold doré poured yesterday at the Gwalia gold plant,” Brightstar managing director Alex Rovira said.
“Our joint venture partner, BML Ventures, has confirmed that all ore has been hauled to Gwalia, with project and fleet demobilisation both progressing on schedule.
“The Selkirk Mining JV been conducted in a safe, productive and professional manner with gold revenues to be split on a 50:50 basis after project cost reconciliations.
“We anticipate several more gold pours over the next few weeks, and look forward to updating the market with finalised cashflow updates once all gold revenue and project costs have been finalised for the Selkirk Mining JV.”
