Gold explorer Spartan Resources has uncovered some of its best assays to date at its Never Never deposit.
The Never Never deposit is part of Spartan’s flagship Dalgaranga gold project located 475km north-east of Perth and about 65km north-west of Mount Magnet in Western Australia.
The company has discovered multiple double-digit widths at double-digit grades at Never Never, with the “significant” intercepts forming from resource in-fill and exploration drilling and a substantial assay result that extended the known mineralisation to nearly 1km below surface.
Recent drilling results include:
- 11.55m at 36.77 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 875m, including 4m at 101.07g/t (drill hole DGDH052)
- 13m at 25.82g/t gold from 624m, including 4m at 51.53g/t (drill hole DGRC1391-DT)
- 11.04m at 11.69g/t gold from 567m, including 2.83m at 42.24g/t (drill hole DGDH051).
“Never Never continues to emerge as one of the most significant standalone high-grade gold discoveries seen in Australia in recent years,” Spartan Resources managing director and chief executive officer Simon Lawson said.
“The latest results include the deepest assay to date and the third best gram x metre intercept thus far, expanding the mineralisation to about 830m vertical depth and around 1km down-dip.”
Lawson said the deepest Never Never assay came from drillhole DGDH052, which delivered one of the highest-grade Never Never intercepts yet.
DGDH052 is located 170m below the current 952,000-ounce mineral resource estimate. It was suggested by Lawson that the mineralisation footprint is “expanding significantly at depth”.
“Our Never Never drilling is consistently delivering plus 100-gram x metre intercepts, from surface to now almost 850m vertical depth below surface,” Lawson said.
“Never Never is quickly becoming a major high grade gold discovery with gold at grades that are very rarely seen, with wide geometry and steep attitude.”
